Biography

Da Vang (pronounced: zah vang) band was born from the sound of Hard Rock, Progressive, Heavy Metal of the late 60, 70, 80s with a simple desire: To play music and brings Rock & Metal to Vietnam music scenes.

We started in 1990 with Nguyen Dat (vocal, guitar & songs writing), Hoang Tuan (guitar), Le Quang (bass) and Le Minh (drums).

The current line-up are: Nguyen Dat (Vocals & Guitars), Vo Dinh (Bass), Duc Huy (Drums), Le Duy (Guitars).

At Pop-Rock festival at Youth Culture House in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in 1991, we won the second prize “Best Band”. Nguyen Dat and Hoang Tuan also won the first prize “Best Guitar Players” of Ho Chi Minh City Pop-Rock Festival in 1991. Since then, we have been recognized to be a real metal band in Vietnam with some well-know songs to rock fans such as: Tam Guong Ky Dieu, Bach Dang Giang, S.O.S. etc…

In October 1997 Da Vang entered the Tung’s studio to cut the album and released it in 2000 with the title “S.O.S.” also the band made 4 video clip with Ben Thanh Audio-Video, 2 video clip with Phuong Nam Film and 1 video clip with HTV (Hochiminh Television). Da Vang is working on the second album now.

The band performs in many Vietnam rock scenes such as Festival Pop-Rock HCMC, Rock Event II in Hanoi, Sai Gon Rock Night concert etc…, and Vietnam major events like: Festival Hue, Festival Da Nang, Festival Vung Tau, Celebration 100 Years Da Lat, 1000 years Thang Long (Hanoi), 300 Years Saigon etc…, Also we perform with the foreign bands like: Les Maniac (Switzeland), B.T.R. (Bulgary) in Saigon in 2000, 2004.
