...I wouldn't say "we" would be positively nostalgic about Soulja Boy and co. but SOMEONE certainly will be. also, that song that plays after this kicks fucking ass

Keep in mind he did it in 96'. He didn't know hip-hop was gonna be even worse in the future, from his point of view it was already too commercialized. In 10 years time, you're also gonna be nostalgic about today's hip-hop. You'll say: "Soulja Boy was the real shit, not like whatever kids listen to these days!"

People been saying "hip hop sucks since now" since the mid 80s. Like ferreal, there's a track on a 1987 album but Just-Ice about how he misses the old school. And every year since then, hip hop has supposedly been dying, died, recovering etc. etc. It's all bs. [2]

Hip hop is more alive than ever and we now there's no excuses for whether it sucks or not because we got the internet and you aint gotta rely on lame ass radio dj's or 20$ cds to listen to it. If you think hip hop sucks in 2011, you ain't lookin hard enough bruh

Obviously he's saying that hip-hop sucks because of G-Funk....

"Hip-hop got a little better in '97." Wrong. '97 was the start of shiny suits and jiggy shit.

Maybe he was being sarcastic? Or making fun of himself? Anyway, the G-Funk is delicious, whomever it's by.

Maybe hiphop sucked in '96, but that's nothing on how much it sucks in 2010.
