At the tender age of 11 Pioneer Pro DJ Emily Scott started her first music radio station with her little bro produced in her bedroom with a mic and a Boom Box, this was certainly a sign of things to come. “My happiest memories as a kid are always centred around the music that was being played.” Whilst studying dance at high school Em spent her time listening to Korn, Groove Armada, Jamiroquai, Destiny’s Child and The Prodigy, but it was her first experience on the dance floor in an underground house club at the age on 17 that may have began her journey.
Shortly after at 19, Emily was hired as a lighting technician at Quest (one of Australia’s biggest House venues) in 2002. “I was hooked! The music took me to another level, especially Roger Sanchez and Fred Falke.” With a natural sense of rhythm, when to build tension and when to hold it, Emily honed these skills to perfection during this time. It was her move to the UK that sealed her future, acquiring decks for the first time “All I wanted to do was play”. And play she did, performing a sell out nation wide tour in Australia only a year later after mixing the Summer’s hottest Dance compilation for label Central Station.
Performance is something Emily Scott is accustomed to. Her career as a model sky rocketed her onto UK TV, while the many magazine covers led her to appear on US hit Entourage and show off her dancing skills in Australia’s Dancing With The Stars. Due to her popularity and international appeal she has been voted Australia’s Sexiest Woman, 9th sexiest (UK) and 44th sexiest woman in the world (USA) and has been a brand ambassador for Wonder Bra and Lipton Ice Tea. Emily clearly performs well in front of a camera, she features in hundreds of glamourous magazines, gracing covers world wide, but it is behind the decks in front of a crowd where both her performance and musical talents shine.“I love the energy of dance music, its effect on people, the uncontrollable need to move. Music and dance are powerful tools unite and uplift.”
Over the last two years Em’s presence on-stage and cutting edge music selection has cemented her position in the international DJ circuit. She has mixed high profile compilations for major Australian labels, and had sell out nation- wide tours. Highlights include playing support slots for legendary House DJ Erick Morillo and Pacha NYE and headlining venues and festivals from Australia through Asia. As well as special guest DJ slots for Austereo’s Saturday Night Party People going out nationally to over 40 stations, she regularly guest mixes for NovaNation, and is requested to spin at events for Luxury brands such as Bally as well as Revlon and EA Games for their exclusive awards nights and fashion parades. It is this success that caught the attention of Pioneer who signed her as a ProDJ in 2009, leading her to join the cream of Australian DJ talent as well as international Ambassadors Roger Sanchez, Sander Kleinenberg and Armin van Buuren.
In 2010 she entered into the scene of music production, and has hit the ground running. Sexy, cutting edge and euphoric describes the Emily Scott sound. Her first release Cortado was snapped up by Neon Underground, and gained radio support worldwide. “I am extremely excited to release my first record. I’m looking forward to releasing more and defining my sound.” Her continued work includes remixes for Australia’s top dance producers, a major label compilation and her latest original The Time Is Now is signed to Roger Sanchez’s new label, while the sexy Boom Bao EP will be out on Definitive Recordings soon. If there’s one thing you must do its see Emily Scott spin and we eagerly await what’s next for the talented Model / DJ / Producer.
