About this album

Lenses Alien is the second full length album by Staten Island indie rock band Cymbals Eat Guitars. It was released on August 28th, 2011. This is the first album by Cymbals Eat Guitars that was written as a complete band; Why There Are Mountains was mostly composed by lead singer and guitarist Joseph D’Agostino, while Lenses Alien features a stable lineup.

Lenses Alien features less lead guitar/vocal-centric songs than the debut, and more of a focus on the full band sound. Influences noted by members of the band on the album include Spiritualized, the Wrens, Wilco, Fleetwood Mac and Bear in Heaven.

The original cover artwork was inspired by Allison Diaz’s “Haunted Mirrors” collage, but soon changed upon request of the artist.
