Cure For Caska began as the self-recorded solo project of Matthew Hayes. Fresh off the break up of a previous band in which he played bass and sang backing vocals, Matthew set out to start a new project as the primary songwriter and singer. He began playing and recording songs that he had written during his late adolescence to the transition of early adulthood. With 6 songs written and arranged, he set out find his band. He wanted to incorporate orchestral instruments to modern, progressive rock music without sacrificing catchy melodies and harmonies. He met Justin Franco while recording what was to become Cure For Caska’s first record, “The Seasons.” Originally, he was asked to fill in as a studio musician for 2 songs, but ended up playing all bass tracks for the record and joined the band in 2007. After the release of “The Seasons” and a regional tour in support of the album, the band achieved a small amount of success. Jonathan Leamy and John Lee completed Cure for Caska’s current line-up in early 2009 adding new elements of creativity and dynamics previously missing in the music. Cure For Caska is planning to begin work on their second studio record in the autumn of 2009.
