London-based four piece, [Culture Industry] formed in early 2002. They played regularly for a short while at various venues including The Garage, Water Rats, RoTa and the Underworld, with bands such as Oceansize, Amplifier, X is Loaded and Apartment. Building on the innovations of and (PiL, Joy Division, Sonic Youth, Slint), [Culture Industry] fused the dread of with an aesthetic of repetition derived from the Velvet Underground, Neu! and The Fall. The band split in 2005.
They released one single through Static Caravan Records, the double A side ‘DJ Ascetic Loves Himself Badly/Recognitions’.
