I love Doe Deer it is one of my most played songs by CC why because what the fuck is this? This is absolute shit and really sounds nothing like anything else they've done. (II) would be a 10/10 if this track wouldn't have stumbled in. God damnit.

Wonderful track; didn't like it the first couple of listens when I heard the track when it was released (those DAMN bleeps) but after hearing that distorted guitar/bass in there, it became a favorite for my ears. Totally unappreciated.

I'm sorry to say this, but if you don't like this song (or more generally, these kinds of tracks that you'll find on each of their albums -- XXZXCUZX Me, Doe Deer, Insulin), then you're not a true Crystal Castles fan. Sure, they make catchy dance/rave music, but from the very beginning (Alice Practice), they've made morbid, angry, desolate synth-punk/noise/lo-fi/whatever. It's the contrast and tension between this and their airier dream pop tracks (Tell Me What To Swallow, Suffocation) that defines their aesthetic and thematic focuses. Also, the bleeps in this song are fucking hypnotic. [2]
