Worm is probably my least favorite vocalist with Cryptopsy but he was involved with my favorite music of theirs so I'm kind of torn. I would love to hear what DiSalvo could do in the studio with Blasphemy Made Flesh.
Don't know why everybody's adulating Lord Worm so much. He has a thin voice, bad expression and sounds like a clogged drain. Too typical Brutal Death.
DiSalvo has a very aggressive element that kicks ass
and McGachy... I don't know... a bit of all good and bad :D
Idk man, s/t was pretty good but I thought Whisper Supremacy and Once Was Not were both MUCH better. Book of Suffering is really dope though. They played half of it when I saw them the other day (setlist was Crown of Horns, Mutant Christ, Detritus, Two Pound Torch, Halothane Glow, Slit Your Guts, and Phobophile).
As for Matt's lows...I like them. Then again, I really like guttural vocals and pig squeals. I wouldn't mind a bit more of a variety though. And no, I actually didn't have any problem with TUK.
Suffering is pretty good, but McGachy needs to drop exaggerated guttural RUGH RUGHHHHHHHH RUGHHHHHHHHHHHHH shit. He actually sounded /better/ on TUK, all they had to do was drop the clean vocals. There's never a time to me after TUK where McGachy doesn't sound like he's straining his natural vocal style to appease death metal fans.
The Book of Suffering Tome 1 is absolutely fantastic. Drums sound killer, especially the snare and kicks. Bass and guitars have utmost killer tone. Overall production is brutal, clear, crisp, and amazing. Musically, its a 4 song concise beast. I loved their S/T as their best since None So Vile...This is even better than the S/T. Cool melodies, technical bits, groove, and everything packed into this powerful little gem. Vocal performance is varied and totally awesome too. If they were to play this entire EP on tour, I'd be stoked.
"In 1997, the addition of the vocalist Michael DiSalvo replacing Lord Worm added a very intense front man to the group and also willy nelson being added in as the keyboard player added some much needed intensity." holy shit how long has that been in the description on here?
