Biography

Andrew Manuele - Vocals/Guitar
Edgar Remotti - Guitar
Max Young - Bass
Cristian Leiva - Drums

Cryptic Prophecy was formed as Nox in 2004 by Andrew, Cris, and a few other friends with the intention of playing heavy music. The band mostly played cover songs until mid-2005, when the first originals were written in a melodic death metal style, influenced by bands like In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, and At the Gates. As time went on, the band expanded their sound to include influences from folk/viking metal, black metal, classic thrash, and more.

From 2005 to 2008 the band went through a number of name and lineup changes and didn’t play live except for high school open mic nights, but wrote numerous songs and recorded a few demo CDs. Edgar joined the band on second guitar in 2008, and the 10 track demo album Descent Into Darkness was passed out at their first real show at The Haunt. Afterwards, the band became more active in the Westchester metal scene.

In 2009, former guitarist Alex Torke rejoined on bass, the band name was changed to Cryptic Prophecy, and the self recorded EP Plight of the Warrior was released, which was reviewed very favorably by Jaymz of Left in Ruins in More Sugar Magazine. Unfortunately Torke had to leave the band the following year, but a replacement was soon found in Max Young.

Cryptic Prophecy is currently in the process of recording a professional EP with Alfred Rylands of Shotgun to the Dome and 51B, and continues to play shows locally.
