The Creedence Clearwater Revival continue with what they do best: rocking. The same southern / swamp atmosphere, the mourning voice of John Fogerty, the catchy songs, the nice guitars. Maybe this album is a bit better than Bayou Country: it has some more variation, and especially, it includes Bad Moon Rising, a song that ends WAY too soon. The more softer tone is the lead in Wrote a Song for Everyone (and what a beautiful song that is), Green River is of course a great tune, Sinister Purpose sounds very sinister indeed (actually most songs have a sinister undertone) and the only cover The Night Time Is the Right Time (although being a good song) actually doesn't fit in between the other darker songs.
So, no surprises about this album: CCR repeats the same trick (albeit with slightly more variation).
And that is definitely a good thing.
(Prachtige rockers: Green River, Wrote a Song for Everyone, Bad Moon Rising, Cross-Tie Walker…
