It's ridiculous how much better the new album is. It's good to see both his Lifter Puller and Hold Steady side flow into one thing.

Saw Craig with Jason Isbell in Cleveland the other night. He said he has a new record coming out in a few months.

I didn't love the album when it was new, but now that I've sat with it four almost two years, I think it's almost flawless.

A question for those that may know: What would have been Finn's influences on this album? I'm not sure about the suggestions last/fm gives on whether they're similar people /now/ or the influences that have helped him make the album in the first place. Up until this album I would never have thought myself a fan of this kind of thing, but all of a sudden I love pedal steel guitar country. So, influences for this album? Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can investigate more.

Love love love Clear Heart Full Eyes. Without a doubt better than the last Hold Steady album. He sounds freed, re-energised and relaxed having a break from the band. Reminds me a lot (in spirit rather than in sound) of Ryan Adams album last year. A man enjoying the chance to do his own thing.
