Suffolk, United Kingdom (1991 – present)

Cradle of Filth is an band, formed in Suffolk, United Kingdom in 1991. The band consists of Dani Filth (vocals), Marek “Ashok” Šmerda (guitar), Rich Shaw (guitar), Martin “Marthus” Škaroupka (drums) and Lindsay Schoolcraft (vocals, keyboards).

In 1994, Cradle of Filth was signed to Cacophonous Records, on which they released their first album “The Principle of Evil Made Flesh”. Cacophonous also pressed the “Vempire or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein” EP in 1996. After this the band were signed to Music For Nations, for whom they produced three of their most prominent full length CD’s to date: “Dusk and Her Embrace”, “Cruelty and the Beast”, and “Midian”. The “From The Cradle To Enslave” EP and a compilation dubbed “Bitter Suites to Succubi” also featured many original songs, as well as some covers and re-recordings of old songs. Then in 2003, they signed to Sony and released only one album on this record label, “Damnation and a Day”. At the beginning of 2004 however, they left Sony and signed to Roadrunner records, through which they released the albums “Nymphetamine” (2004) and their latest “Thornography” (2006). They also have their own label Abracadaver on which “Bitter Suites to Succubi” was released. They hope to sign bands to this label in the near future. On Sept 27th 2008 Roadrunner Records and Cradle of Filth made available an MP3 download for “Tragic Kingdom” the first sample of the upcoming album “Godspeed on the Devil’s Thunder” due to be released in October (available here)

That wasn't even grammar. That was a misspelling that was worthy of reposting. Anyway nothing is stopping anyone from listening to trve black metal so it doesn't really make any sense to hate a band because they are not one of the trve black metal artists.

I absolutely LOVE their first three albums! I don't know why people automatically hate them. Obituary and Morbid Angel also ONLY made first three exceptional albums and people don't hate them and they will still buy their new garbag

is not balck metal [5] Not here to argue about genres, just being evil and promoting obnoxious grammar

Forget about black metal, this band is not that style. Just listen catchy dark melodies and be happy with it. Cradle of filth is very individual, I like their new stuffs /Nymphetamine and the others/ Dark horroristic pervert romantica. Album arts are epic too.

Loving them, old or new (though agree that old albums were better). Still one of my favorite bands and my gateway to metal.

Regardless of whether or not I agree with it, if everyone who doesn't consider CoF to be black would just stop calling Venom black metal as well... that'd be great. #fuckyourdoublestandards

@ jonowev, not sure anything could be classified as "balck metal" XD Not that genre classifications matter regardless. Their 90's material is great stuff no matter what you call it^^

They're currently filming a video for a new track called "'Right Wing Of The Garden Triptych", from their upcoming album "Hammer Of The Witches". Really an important album for them, their first since Paul Allender's quiet departure. Could really go either way IMO. Either it will be horrible & sound like just a Dani Filth side project (like Devilment?) or, if the new guitarists are actually descent, it could sound new & refreshing and be just what the doctor ordered, as their last few albums with Allender as the main songwriter have all been kind of hit or miss. :-)

It would have been super mondo gnarly if they kept going with the sound they had on their demos. Oh and the only song I like off their studio albums is Born in a Burial Gown I love that cheesy sounding synth orchestra. :P

este banda es black metal o es metal gotico? o solo tienen el look del black metal pero no suenan como una banda de black metal?
