Coyu is the name of war of Iván Ramos, a versatile young guy born in the summer of 1985 in Barcelona. Vinyl and writing lover, he has raised up among a big variety of music styles and scenes, although he has been really in to the German techno of the 90’s: Berlin-Colonia-Frankfurt (Maurizio-Mike Ink-Sven Vath). Sounds of the Motor City (the first Plastikman, Jeff Mills, Dan Bell, Carl Craig, Robert Hood or The Trinity: Juan Atkins , Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson) have been also an important grassroot, and so the minimalism of the North of Europe (specially Mika Vainio and his legacy in Säkho) and the England darkness and experimentalism (from Aphex Twin to Surgeon, coming to Autechre and LFO, and Mark Broom, Oliver Ho and Pacou, of course). Ricardo Villalobos is one of his more respected and played (in his sets) artists, together with Matthew Dear, Akufen, Josh Wink, Matthew Herbert, Dominik Eulberg, Dennis Ferrer, Shinedoe, Matthias Kaden, Sleeparchive, Radioslave, Henrik Schwarz, Onur Ozer, Luciano or Robag Wruhme and the Chicago acid house precursors (Larry Heard aka Mr. Fingers, Pierre, Armando, Marshall Jefferson, Adonis, Lil’Louis…). Coyu’s points of reference are not similar among them at all, what he really likes is to show his view of music in and out the dancefloor (throughout his mixings.) As DJ, Coyu is daring, eclectic and innovative.
