i like each CC album for different reasons. What I love about "This Desert Life" is that many of the songs on this album are very catchy. I have to disagree with some other comments. I think alot of the songs are memorable, with the exception of Speedway and High Life (these two songs I consider to be the weakest of the album).

I agree. Only a couple tracks are memorable on this one... it happens!

This is my favorite CC album, no question. Some of the lesser mentioned tracks, Four Days, Amy, and especially High Life are brilliant.

yeah, a few of the songs aren't very memorable. Speedway, Colorblind and Mrs Potter's Lullaby are awesome though.

aaahhhh - that "difficult third album". Just listened for the first time, and All My Friends and Colorblind (sic) are good, but the rest is instantly forgotten. Sorry CC fans.

(continued from below) St. Robinson In His Cadillac Dream. Speedway is a personal favorite of mine on the record; a soothing, natural ballad reflecting on thoughts and second thoughts of escapism, as is All My Friends with the excellent musical arrangement (the outro to that song is gorgeous and melodic).

Not quite as strong as their first two albums (both classics in my opinion) but still a most impressive, very strong third album. Musically, this is much more down-to-earth than Recovering The Satellites was, which the first three tracks epitomize the natural, home-grown feel of this record, as does the basses and strings on High Life and the pianos and organs on.........
