Queens, New York

Dexter Raymond Mills, Jr. (born June 14, 1977 in Queens, New York), better known as Consequence, is an American hip hop artist from Queens, New York. Rapper Q-Tip is his cousin.

Dexter Mills, Jr. soon developed the stage name Consequence. At the age of sixteen, he made his first official appearance on A Tribe Called Quest’s 1993 album Midnight Marauders. He would go on to make numerous appearances on their songs and albums. After the group disbanded in 1998, Consequence was forced to search for a label on his own. Consequence soon earned a deal at Elektra Records. He recorded an album’s worth of material to be released in 2000, but the label cut back that year and by 2004, the label had ceased operations. In 2004, he released the mixtape, Take ‘Em To The Cleaners, which would find its way into the hands of Kanye West. After this West offered him a guest spot on his debut album The College Dropout. He went on to appear on West’s second album. In 2005, Kanye signed Consequence to his label GOOD Music through a deal with Columbia Records. In 2007, Consequence released his debut album, Don’t Quit Your Day Job!. Singles from the album were “Callin’ Me” and “Grammy Family”. The album sold over 7,000 copies in its first week. Since the release of his debut album, he has begun working on his second album, which was initially titled You Win Some, You Lose Some, though was recently changed to Cons TV.[1] Cons TV is set to be produced by Kanye West and Q-Tip.
