Rochester, United States (2008 – present)

In December 2009, “Color Sounds” became the name of a netlabel and music blog run by Robert Drury. Color Sounds features many different artists who perform or compose innovative music from improvisational means to new forms of recording and everything in between. Robert Drury’s musical contributions are often included as either archived recordings of Orion STO sessions or as original work published under the Color Sounds name. In January 2008, Robert Drury, a musician in Rochester, NY, adopted the name Color Sounds for his own musical work and released an EP featuring cover versions of songs from underground bands that played in from 2003-2008. The EP is called ‘HISTORIES’. In July 2008, Color Sounds released an LP titled ‘Another Media is Possible’. The album features indie-inspired guitar while also being firmly rooted in electronic production and sampling. In November 2008, Color Sounds released an EP of four tracks named ‘Size’. In June 2009, Color Sounds released another EP of four tracks named ‘Bazuti. ‘Bazuti’ crossed the synthesized aesthetic of the ‘Size’ EP with a supersaturated indiepop treatment. It was also the last Color Sounds release to feature Robert Drury’s music exclusively.
