Colleen Green debuted with this album, on cassette, in 2010. Now Art Fag Recordings has re-released Milo Goes to Compton on LP. Doing so was a worthy project, if for no other reason than to pull the sheen of her pop songs out of their gritty comfort zone and imprint it onto vinyl. The comfort zone, and perhaps Green’s desired aesthetic, seems to be to make shout-outs to early punk and other kinds of 70s rock (Descendents, Ramones, Little Peggy March). I don't know why but I can vividly imagine in my head a kickass hardcore punk cover of Y Do U Call Me with a guitar solo where that synth-y part is near the end. If I had the means to make this real I would.
