Colin Blunstone

In the 60’s, Colin Blunstone was the lead singer of The Zombies, a band that developed a distinctive, jazzy sound, in which his soft, laid-back, almost hesitant voice was offset against the equally soft, but flexible and pointy instruments of organ, drum, and bass.

The Zombies disbanded. In the early 70’s, Blunstone re-emerged as a solo act, and scored several major hits. The music featured rhythm guitar now and ranged from string arranged melodies, to , to American . The Zombies were never far away; for instance, “Andorra”, written by co-Zombies Rod Argent and White, is a remake of “Time of the Season”.

One Year” was his first solo album.

In the late 70’s Colin lent his voice to The Alan Parsons Project, a logical progression from his solo work, as can be heard in a song such as “Old And Wise”.

Colin is currently touring and recording again with Rod Argent, another founder member of the Zombies, performing both new material and hits from their joint and solo careers.

Great voice--whistful, spooky--in very good ways! I've been wondering about Colin for quite some time--also, Russ Ballard. I knew that Rod had been a session keyboard player for quite awhile. Argent had a number of interesting LPs before "Hold Your Head Up" hit the charts in '76.... Humm--chop! King Crimson--they were insane--especially Fripp! They were quite memorable when I saw them live--excellent axeman....

You know, "As Far As I Can See..." wasn't that bad an album people made it seem. His voice was enough to please me, I guess. haha

Since they play Argent songs at these Zombies' show, they should play stuff from One Year.

My son very kindly bought me Colin's new album, "The Ghost Of You And Me" for Mothering Sunday. I'm just now aquainting myself with the tracks and liking what I hear :) I adore "One Year" and hope this new album comes close.

When I saw him here with The Zombies he would stand onstage with his eyes closed with a distant look on his face, tapping his left foot and clicking his fingers while keeping his arms glued to his sides. It was almost as if he had forgotten he was onstage for five minutes. It was intense.

Good song; great voice deserves better than the mediocre production it's wasted on though.
