Cole B, whose real name is Bryan Eyberg, was born in Creston Iowa, in the United States. He began writing his own music while in junior high school, but after making two home-made cassette tapes, Cole gave up writing popular music for classical piano music. His original goal was to move to L.A. to become a session player in the recordings studios after graduation from high school, but while in high school Cole decided to pursue a career in classical music, because he wanted to be a music teacher. Later on, out of grad school by a few years, Cole decided to start writing his own music again. Cole began writing a style of music that was a combination of jazz, pop, rock, minimalism, and experimental music. This music is played over a rock or dance music beat. Cole said that his music sounds like "John Coltrane chillin on a beach." This points to Cole's use of jazz, free-jazz, pop, and minimalism and a funky beat.
