According to the Paradise Songfacts, the song finds Chris Martin singing of a young girl’s dashed hopes and dreams of paradise. It appears be some sort of sequel to Coldplay’s previous single, “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall,” whose title is even included in “Paradise“‘s lyrics.

‘Paradise’ became Coldplay’s 2nd No.1 hit single on January 1st 2012. It was the follow-up to ‘Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall’ from their chart-topping, fifth studio album ‘Mylo Xyloto’. Chris, Will, Jonny and Guy treated fans to a live performance and scooped the gong for ‘Top British Group’ at this year’s Brit Awards.
