Chris Martin described the cut to Billboard as, “a sort of villainous, dark piece,” adding “It’s the idea of two people running away from a Kafka environment, or an Orwellian thing.” (Source Major Minus Songfacts).

Melodywise it's a bit of a rip-off of "Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)" by Arcade Fire. Nonetheless, it's still a great song in my book.

I'm not saying I don't like Mylo Xyloto, but the only reason I'm okay with it is that it brought us this song. Problem?

Good or bad, or in between ... be very very careful what you wish for. In this universe, everything has terms & conditions (Instant Karma - John Lennon), bounty hunter or not + Neo/Thomas A. Anderson - Luke Skywalker: or well oh well (George 1984), this polluted (Angels And Demons - Dan Brown reference) English language has caused more semantic plagues & suffering for it's users than all other languages combined. English is more terrifying than a gun. Those who master it can manipulate bodies, nations, souls, nous...true Masters Of War indeed (Bob Dylan reference). The film Quills with Kate Winslet & Geoffrey Rush showed the power of the pen & how they (The State/The Church) banned certain authors back in the 18th century or so. The Pen Mightier Than The here. There There (Radiohead FTW). POSTED January 2, 2012.
