I love that he wrote from a woman's perspective. Its like modern day "House of the Rising Sun" (bob dylan version)

I thought the song was a cover but i looked it up. Cold War Kids bassist Matt Maust told Artist Direct the story of this song: "A lot of times when we are writing songs, (vocalist and lyricist) Nathan (Willett) just kind of spits out gibberish, and we record a lot of these demos and listen to them. Matt Aveiro, the drummer, said, 'Hey, did you just say 'everyman I fall for,'' and Nate's like, 'I don't know, but it's a great idea for a song,' so he wrote a song with the idea. It's from a woman's point of view in a bad relationship."

"It's a song written from a woman's perspective. About what it was like to be living with my mom as a teenager and watching her be a single woman dating and my fears for her."

is the lead singer gay? someone said to me he's not and it's just about domestic violence. i then reminded them that there's gay domestic violence too.
