“Khe Sanh” is an Australian pub rock song, released as a 45 rpm single in May 1978, and named after the Battle of Khe Sanh (1968) during the Vietnam War. The song, performed by Cold Chisel, having been written by pianist Don Walker and featuring the vocals of Jimmy Barnes, is about a bitter and disillusioned Australian Vietnam veteran. According to Toby Creswell’s liner notes for the band’s 1991 compilation album Chisel, the song is also a story of restless youth.

I left my heart to the zappers round Khe Sanh
And my soul was sold with my cigarettes to the blackmarket man
I've had the Vietnam cold turkey
From the ocean to the Silver City

*inhales through teeth* cannot get into it at all =/. like a much more mediocre-sounding Matchbox 20. very repetitive rhythms and style of sound -especially the vocals- that does not make much since to me.

Again another memory song. I was in a bar in Perth and the band took a break, some "fat" guy got up to the piano and everyone was jeering him, (very Susan Boyle) then he started to sing and play and he completely silenced the place, chins hit the floor before everyone broke out in rapturous applause. I asked the guy next to me what the song was and from that night on it's been one of my all time favourites.
