Also took a while for it to grow on me. But it truly displays their skills as artist, musicians, and masters of their instruments. I love this album now and I see the emotions and feeling they were trying to capture. Well done. And No world For Tommorow was one of the best!

I'm a little bit disappointed about this album, although it isn't bad. I mean, this album's better than some band's discographys, but still it's one of the weaker C&C releases to me.

Hmm. I think this album is their best personally. With every other Coheed album, there were several flaws that ruined it for me [Turbine seemed too...sporadic, Silent Earth 3 had several songs that weren't even worth listening to, Apollo's last four tracks were a big load of 'meh', and NWFT was way too pop-sounding] but those flaws are absent from this album. This is probably the only Coheed album I can listen to all the way through and enjoy every song [okay, well, the last track maybe not so much, but you get my point].

Overall, this is a step up from No World for Tomorrow. It's a bit of a mixed bag and gets off to a slow start, but there are several songs that are peak Coheed (IMO, Far, Made Out of Nothing, When Skeletons Live, maybe one or two others).

It took awhile for it to grow on me, but now I love this album!

I just saw them last night at Congress Theatre in Chicago. They played a majority of the YOTBR and there were plenty of people going crazy! I think this is an evolution of their sound for sure, but it does go further towards their post-hardcore roots also, which I think is good... my new favorite album!

Rollk - If you read the book while you listen to the album it grows on you immediately.

Never has a Coheed album taken so long to grow on me. The previous four albums are all instantly recognizable and classics (Yes, even NWFT attained this quality), but this shit took forever. So many songs here I'd love to see live.

I feel like this album is one of Coheed best work up to this date. Even if they change their sound a little bit, they've decided to go on a "more progressive" side and returned to their "post-hardcore" roots and it please me. NWFT was their worst because it was too "poppy" for my ears(even if i like 3 or 4 songs from it). For the rest, they are all pretty excellent releases. I can't pinpoint which album I like More in their past. It will go like that "YOTB > All their others releases >> NWFT. But like JimmyTrigger said, no one love change in music and I understand why some people dislike this album. But the drums is really at it best here !!! Chris Pennie Rules(and TDEP too even without him)!!!

I feel like this album is really lacking some of the singalong hooks that previous albums had. It was the blending of pop elements into Coheed's sound that truly made their music unique, but it is almost nonexistent on this record.

@Christophilies: this is a prqual, before this it goes in chronological order: Second Stage - In Keeping Secrets - Good Apollo 1 - Good Apollo 2 (NWFT). This new one comes before Second Stage. But I can see why people hate this. No one seems to like change, especially in music. Just because it's different from the stuff you used to love doesn't mean it's terrible. I personally love it.

@Christophilies Just a prologue as far as I know. NWFT's proper title is still "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV: Volume Two" even though its the fourth album.

Worst Coheed&Cambria album. I'm still busy convincing myself that this release does not exist. Although going to the album page hurts the the progress more than it helps.

So would this be considered Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star I or more of a prologue to the whole thing.

Pretty good. Not sure about Guns of Summer or the last track, and the guitars are mixed too low. But, still a good album.

Good album. Nowhere near as good as SSTB or IKSoSE3 but miles ahead of NWFT.

I'd say this album is pretty much on par with Good Apollo Vol 1. and worlds better than NWFT...and that was a decent album just not too memorable.

For any of you Rock Band 2 fans, three tracks from this album are coming to the Xbox Live Marketplace on Tuesday April 20th. The tracks are Guns of Summer, The Broken and Here We Are Juggernaut. Just thought I'd post to get more people to get the tracks so we get more in the future. Thanks.

I definitely feel the Prized Fighter Inferno influence on some of these songs. A few are awesome, some are alright and a little weird or "off" sounding... But I know without a doubt they will all grow on me in time, I love this flippin' band.

Why does everyone hate on NWFT? With most bands i can say that an album is bad, not with CoandCa,y album is as amazing as the next, but i guess thats just my opinion...

I'm a late comer to this band, heard them last year for the first time: "My daughter was playing Guitar Hero"...and I immediately went out and bought every CD. I really like the majority of their music...some songs I just can't get into, but I think these guys are one of those few artists that shine with talent. (Dream Theater, Tool, Katatonia, Porcupine Tree) . Can't wait to get my hands on this new album.

  • WhyS0Serious

"ZOMG IT DOESN'T SOUND EXACTLY LIKE THE FIRST 2 ALBUMS! THAT MEANS IT IS SUCK AND IT DOESN'T EXIST TO ME" seriously, stfu fags that think everything after iks sucks. ga1 is a fucking goddamn masterpiece. is nwft their weakest? yea, but it's still fucking awesome. and year of the black rainbow so far has blown me away. i'm sick of people that only like a band's first 1 or 2 albums and hate everything after that just because it's not the exact same sound. not all bands are like ac/dc and make the same 3 songs for 35 years. some bands like to try new things.

Coheed and Cambria lost me a long time ago (IKSoSE3, to be precise) and failed to regain me since. I'm not sure if this could win me over again. Might give it a spin

pre-ordered the deluxe version from coheedandcambria.com and got it yesterday - been listening to it since! When Skeletons Live and Guns of Summer instantly grabbed me. As for the two demo tracks, The Lost Shepard demo could have definitely been included on the album. I wonder if it didn't fit the story and that's why it wasn't included? Anyone read the novel yet?

I liked this on the first listen and was glad to see they were expanding their sound some (on songs like Far). What's with the haters? Pretty sure it's better than No World for Tomorrow.
