Andy Anderson (birth name Clifford Leon Anderson) was born in London, England on January 30th, 1951.

Andy Anderson joined The Cure as their drummer in 1983, after drummer Lol Tolhurst switched to keyboard duties. Andy helped record the albums Japanese Whispers, The Top, and Concert. He also worked with Robert Smith and Steve Severin on their side-project, The Glove. He was, and still is, the only member of The Cure of African descent.

Andy was fired by Robert Smith on October 17th, 1984, after he got into a fight with security guards after a gig at Tokyo’s Nakano Sun Hall during the Japanese leg of the Top Tour.
