Biography

Cliff Martinez (born February 5, 1954) is an American film score composer and musician.

He worked as a drummer for Captain Beefheart, The Dickies, The Weirdos, Lydia Lunch and the Red Hot Chili Peppers (1984-1986) before turning to scoring Hollywood films in the early 1990s. Martinez has collaborated with director Steven Soderbergh on many projects, including Traffic (2000), Solaris (2002).

His collaboration with director Nicolas Winding Refn on the soundtrack for Drive (2011) sold very well and climbed as high as number four on the sales charts.
