The sporano is so lush, she's almost sexy. I've always been amazed at what a modern emotional sensibility early music can have. With the phrasing (not to mention the longing) her line could be laid atop piano and string base and it would break my heart through & through without any irony. I'm so grateful for St Martin-In-The-Fields and David Munrow for leading us to re-discover such profoundly beautiful music.
