Toronto-born Clara Engel, a multi-faceted artist whose musical voice is guided by the likes of Jacques Brel, Robert Johnson and Diamanda Galas, is quickly gaining an online following and carving a niche for herself as a brave, bold, and innovative new voice. Both fierce and delicate, her music is reminiscent of an era in history when theatre, art, and sound were an integral part of a bigger, more vital whole; an era that the 21st century is craving more than ever.

Haha, he's clearly not going to answer; his account was created the night he posted comments on this page, and hasn't used it since.

I really didn't feel like responding to this however many months ago, and the only thing that brings me back here is that your comments are like an giant engorged boil taking up this page. You're a whining snot who created a last.fm account specifically for the purpose of writing on this page, addressing me directly; I assume I've had the displeasure of meeting you somewhere before. Here we go: I label my good friend's music "apocalyptic folk" in the way Mr. Tibet originally used the phrase, which was to loosely connect the music activities of his group of friends; Jhonn, Stapleton, McDowall, Pearce, etc. These people shared a common outlook and love of music, rather than a common sound. Gnostic and Thelemic elements end with C93's name, as Tibet was bored of Crowley's masturbations before he even put Nature Unveiled out. Clara has her own group of friends readily identifiable as Apocalyptic Folk in a different and more malleable sense of the term. Oh uh and she's better than Rome haha

Apocalyptic Folk *sigh*... are you serious? It is not even close to neofolk. Repetitive (not a bad thing), check. Swans (Jarboe influenced), check. Apocalyptic Folk, ummm no. Where are all the gnostic and thelemic elements? It is more akin to a emo/indie with an aching of artfag thrown in. New Weird America has royally fucked up peoples conception of what is and what is not anymore, that is all I can say (I thank Mr, Bunting for this following trend). If this is considered apocalyptic folk then Die Krups and Ramstein are industrial, amirite? The Rome comment is funny... Rome is not Apocalyptic Folk. Just because Reuter has a deep vocal, social/political commentary and a accoustic guitar does not make one Di6 or with his romantism, c93. It is pop music for people that are accustomed to such genre... so much so it is radio friendly. Some people really take theirselves too seriously, and... I bet can't take criticism.

Do you know what apocalyptic folk is or did you wikipedia it one day? I'm not saying she isn't good as an artist but it's a been there done that thing, being original is hard and people should just STFU and GTFH. Music speaks for itself and fanboy crowds are just irksome Pwn'n apocalyptic folk? newb... What is more confusing is you are her top listener and cannot ever discern what catagory her music would fall into.
