A bunch of excitable party people from Leeds, some of whom have played in bands such as The Dragon Rapide, The Lapse, Beards and Origami. Polyrhythmic, raucous, electrotastic elastic art-pop songs from the death-beds of Fela Kuti, James White, Captain Beefheart, Minutemen, The Meters and Talking Heads.
They have toured with San Francisco’s Origami and have played UK gigs with Cryptacize, James Chance and Les Contortions, DAT Politics, Fulborn Teversham, Orchestre Tout Puissant, Lovvers, played at Chinchillafest 2008 and loads more. Their sound is angular and scratchy post-funk from the James Chance school. It’s polyrhythmic, unpredictable, joyful, exciting and catchy, mixing elements of post-punk, new-wave, no-wave, and classic funk. Richard Formby, the Leeds-based engineer whose clients have included Herman Dune has engineered Cissy’s first five songs. Richard has described the band’s sound as ‘Captain Beefheart doing Afro-Beat’. Plan B magazine also included Cissy in their ‘When We Meet’ section - their regular recommended new sounds page and Leeds Student Newspaper also ran a feature on the band in their unsigned section. Cissy is Matt Woodward, Katie Moore, Gav Montgomery and Matt Dixon.

Four-piece post-punk electro party outfit Cissy have the playground fun of The Go Team and Justice juxtaposed with the sinister intricacies of Deerhoof. The band started a couple of years ago but most members had been playing around Leeds in other bands for a long time.
