CIRCLE OF EARS was created in December 2008 by INVERTED EAR MUSIC (incorporating Isokon Flats, Synthpig, Shaman Headinvader, and Shuddermen) as an outlet for their collaborations with unclejim, CONRAD McQUEEN, SAXOMAL, and KOENIGSBERG VERY LITTLE ORCHESTRA.
Personnel: Derek Miles & Mark Walton (SHUDDERMEN, SYNTHPIG, SHAMAN HEADINVADER, ISOKON FLATS), Conrad McQueen, David Goard & Rob Robinson (unclejim), Malcolm Miles (SAXOMAL), Sylvain Dennielou (KOENIGSBERG VERY LITTLE ORCHESTRA).
Their first album “The Time Travellers’ Sonic Handbook” was released in March 2009 on mp3 (free to download) and cd (which is available for £3 + postage from invertedearmusic@hotmail.co.uk).
The title was used as a theme for each individual group member to create whatever piece of music they chose to contribute to the project, which resulted in sounds ranging between delicate minimalism, electronic, avant-garde, soundtrack, jazz, sound montage, to extreme and distorted “difficult-music” explorations that almost make Sun Ra seem restrained.
Work on new album “Cahoots’ is already under way, with several tracks already completed. Containing more song-based material than the last, this album has each project member paired off to produce collaborative tracks.
