About This Track
“Genie in a Bottle” is the first hit single and signature song from Christina Aguilera’s debut album, “Christina Aguilera”. David Frank, Steve Kipner, and Pamela Sheyne wrote the song. The song became a smash hit overnight, becoming one of Christina’s most successful singles worldwide. The track went #1 on Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks, having had the longest stay at number for the entire year. The single broke airplay history for being one of the most successful airplay-only songs. The track established Christina’s place in pop culture as a pop princess, going platinum within a few months of release.
The single earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 2000 and helped her win the Best New Artist Grammy that same year.
