Children of the Bong

Daniel Goganian and Rob Henry formed Children of the Bong as a British ambient-dub combo, including acoustic guitar and DJ Marin’s turntable technology in their live shows. They later decided to go completely electronic, recording several tracks for compilations (Feed Your Head, Vol. 2, Quadraped Vol. 1) and — after Planet Dog signed the group — their 1995 debut album.

They signed to Planet Dog Records in 1994 and released one album, Sirius Sounds, as well as a couple of tracks on Planet Dog compilations. The band recorded a Peel Session for DJ John Peel on BBC Radio 1 on 26 April 1994

The group split up shortly after the release of the album. Rob Henry went on to form a band called Euphonic and now plays in a band called Neech.

The masters of old-school psydub, quite under appreciated! Sirius Sounds is great, been loving in it for quite some time, even though I'm late to their party...

Dug out "Sirius Sounds" recently. Probably haven't listened to it in 15 years. A bit trancey for my taste, but it has a few good tracks.

This is some of the best blissed-out music going. Not so ambient that the beats just dissipate into nothing, and not too uptempo either - it just strikes a perfect balance to chill out to.

Does anyone know where the quote from Return Home comes from? Is it a sample or actually orginal to the song?

I saw them once at a Megadog night in Bristol. Bought their bootleg style tape and loved it. Lost the tape and have missed the first track on side two ever since. If anyone has a copy & knows what it was, let me know. (Tape cover was a black & white drawing of curves and circles:a an official budget release by C.O.T.B)

It is so sad Children Of The Bong stopped making music together. Rob Henry's subsequent projects don't really do anything for me, and it seems Daniel Goganian stopped making music altogether. But together they made some music that is simply stunning.
