A New Jersey trio from the late 80s, early 90s who were making all the right noises on a label which once had ingenious plans to usurp the kingdoms of Subpop and Amphetamine Reptile corporations on top of the hip rock heap.
A chaotic guitars and drum combo who sounded like they recorded their songs rolling down hill. Their songs shift from insane free form workouts and surreal silliness to highly complex guitar noodling. A band that refused to stand still or be neatly pigeon holed.
Chicken Scratch evolved in the late 1980s out of political hardcore band Corporate Pigs and post-punk avant-rockers Brain Vacation, sharing members with both. They released a total of three CDs/albums on Community 3 Records and toured Europe before calling it quits in the early 1990s.
