Wishing You Were Here (4:35)

From The Chicago Story and 31 other releases

“Wishing You Were Here” is a mellow AM radio style song written by Peter Cetera for the 1974 album Chicago VII. Main vocals provided by the late Terry Kath, (but strangely not credited as such on the original album pressing) with Cetera leading the bridge. Fascinating point of interest in this tune are the smooth backing harmonies provided by three members of The Beach Boys-Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson and Al Jardine.

I love Chicago. Their harmonies are tight and the brass was ahead of it's time which make the band who they were. This song reminds me of college and missing my boyfriend.

Chicago was the first musical group that I bought (based on a recommendation from the record store assistant...). I never heard of them, but they blew my doors off...(Blood Sweat and Tears were big for a short while...). They went the distance with several personnel changes. Haven't heard much from them lately, but the rewrote the script on "Horn fusion."

I love the melodies that Chicago and the Beach Boys made for this song. Especially Dennis Wilson's voice, Never really heard in the Beach Boy stuff...if you have not hear Pacific Ocean Blue-definitely pick it up!!!
