Biography

FIVE GUYS FROM BOSTON. THEY’VE KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR YEARS. THEY GET THIS IDEA TO START A BAND BACK IN 1996. YEARS GO BY, THE LINE UP CHANGES, BUT THE MISSION REMAINS THE SAME: CREATE THE MUSIC THEY WANT TO HEAR AND LEAVE THE POSTURING AND FASHION SHOW POLITICS OF NEW MUSIC BEHIND. TRYING TO KEEP THE SPIRIT OF OLD STYLE HARDCORE ALIVE AMID A WORLD THAT IS SATURATED WITH NEW SCHOOL METAL BANDS AND DROP-TUNED BREAKDOWNS, THEY HAVE PERSEVERED AND KEPT THEIR FORWARD MOTION ALIVE. NOT AFRAID TO MAKE FUN OF THEMSELVES, (AND EVERYONE ELSE), CHEECH HAVE ENCOUNTERED A FAN BASE OF LIKE-MINDED INDIVIDUALS: PEOPLE WHO ARE JUST SICK AND TIRED OF THE SAME OLD FORMULAIC CRAP.

THEIR FIRST RELEASE “A DAY LATE AND A DOLLAR SHORT”, A COMPILATION OF PRE-RECORDED TRACKS (FROM 96 TO PRESENT) WAS A TESTAMENT TO WHAT BOOZE AND REEFER COULD DO FOR FIVE BORED GUYS WITH MUSICAL TALENT. COMBINING ELEMENTS OF PRE AND POST ‘87 HARDCORE, THE ALBUM REFLECTS A FEEL-GOOD, PARTY ATMOSPHERE COMBINED WITH THE HOSTILITY OF A GOOD, OLD - FASHIONED HOCKEY FIGHT. AFTER A FEW MONTHS WITH A NEW BASS PLAYER ON BOARD (A CONSCRIPT WHO HUNG OUT DURING THE EARLY DAYS OF CHEECH), OUR HEROES DECIDED TO START RECORDING THE FOLLOW UP TO THEIR FIRST OPUS.

DURING THE EXCRUCIATINGLY COLD WINTER OF 2004, THE BOYS STARTED PRE-PRODUCTION SESSIONS FOR THEIR SECOND RELEASE, ENTITLED “KEEP YOUR PIMP HAND STRONG”(FEATURING GUEST STARS JIMMY GESTAPO FROM MURPHY’S LAW AND OTHERS). AFTER MINOR NEGOTIATIONS, THE BOYS SECURED A DISTRO DEAL WITH NGS RECORDS OUT OF CHICAGO.
