Biography

Chasm is a Sydney based producer who is heavily influenced and inspired by soul, roots, reggae and jazz music; all of which is highly evident in the construction of his unique production that results in Chasm bringing a distinctive flavour to Australian hip hop. With a penchant for old analogue gear and dusty vinyl, this beat-smith can most often be found deep in the crates of his local record store.

Since dropping his self titled debut EP in 2004, Chasm has been busy collaborating with some of Australia’s finest MCs. As well as releasing a limited edition 7” in 2005 titled “Cyanide Tip,” he has also most recently worked with his crew “Astronomy Class” on the critically acclaimed “Exit Strategy” LP.

This was followed by a solo full length - ‘Beyond the beat tape’, which obtained ‘Album of the week’ status on both Triple J and FBI fm. Between tours promoting the album Chasm stayed busy in the studio, piecing together MC Dialectrix debut release ‘Cycles of survival’, which is now ready to drop on heads this October 08!
