Saint-Adèle, Québec

Charles Dubé grew up north of Montréal in the ski community of Saint-Adèle, Québec, where spent his childhood in speech contests and in the drama school of his mother — a pianist and professor of French. From his father, a mathematician, he inherited a great passion for reading.

A child psychologist by training, he worked in his profession for 10 years and only sang for friends before putting it on hold to pursue his other love: music. His influences are varied. Dali and Gauguin are among his favorite painters. Among musicians, there is Bob Marley and Youssou N’dour for their commitment, and Richard Desjardins and Daniel Bélanger for their attitude towards creation.

At the age of 33, he was noticed at the Festival en chanson de Petite-Vallée, and got a contract to create his first album. Réverbère, the title track, was named song of the year by Ma première Place des Arts, and he has gone on to receive many awards.
