Chanca (pronounced ‘chancer’) is 27-year-old songwriter/lyricist Nathan Bowles from Bournemouth, South England.
Chanca started out in late 2003 by making beats and tunes to compliment his growing catalogue of lyrics. After finding a style that drew from a wide range of influences; he finished his first 4- track demo by early 2004. He caught that music buzz and continued to write & record until his 16-track debut album “Dark In 2 Light” was finished by the end of that year.
Chanca is musically influenced by many different artists ranging from 2pac to Portishead, Massive Attack to Skinnyman. He has a love for both trip hop and rap music. He believes in music being positive, and uses the art form of rap as an expression of thought. He understands that music is one of, if not the best medium to communicate to the world.
Disheartened by the current state of music, Chanca hopes to wake up the robotic-state that is society by injecting some passionate, hopeful and faith-inspiring words and music into people’s lives. Chanca is currently trying to promote the album, he also has several collaborations that he is working on, as well as working on new material for his second album.
His unique blend of hard hitting but thought provoking words, mixed with mellow beats & trip hop style melodies are a must for any music lover who is sick and tired of hearing about the same old thing & bored of the music flooding the airwaves.
