Biography

There are two artists that go by the name of Cezar.

1. Cezar “The Voice” Ouatu, also known as simply Cezar, is a Romanian-Italian countertenor who will represent Romania at Eurovision Song Contest 2013.

Born in a family of musicians in Romania, he started playing the piano at the young age of 6. He stood out because of his musical talent, graduating from the Carmen Sylva Music High School in Ploiesti with high honours. His great passion for jazz determined him to further his solo carrier in piano more thoroughly, with greatly accomplished jazz musicians.

At the age of 20 he discovered his voice, which has this unique and special colour,in Milan, where he graduated from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatoire, one of the most important Music Schools in the world, with the best marks and therefore receiving the highest honours. Cezar is considered by great opera magazines, such as “Opernglas”, to be one of the best countertenors of his generation.

With more than 10 internationally acclaimed prizes from the most important international opera competitions in places such as Barcelona, Dresden, Milan, Monaco and San Marino,he has had a carrier of more than 10 years in which he has performed in the most important theatres and concert halls in the world.
In december 2012 Cezar decided to approach the pop opera musical genre, which combines both the operatic and pop opera styles on one stage, therefore creating an original and innovative musical concept world wide. His first single, Cinema Paradiso, premiered in Romania on Christmas Eve and was very well received by the public.

I was in the audience at Eurovision and he was fantastic! There were lots of really good acts though- and you can (usually only afford to) vote for one! I didn't want to phone 0900 numbers while roaming, but there were about 5 or 6 that deserved to win!

Amazing performance. Shame politics between countries influences the vote more than talent.

Nothing campy about an highly trained countertenor singing on falsetto. Unfortunately the final only confirmed what's already long known...that actual talent and skill have no say in these events. Having known this am not as disappointed as could be with final position. Also think that if he had performed more towards the end he'd have had some better chances.

Flawless performance. Of course it was campy, but it was executed with a level of professionalism that others can only dream of. Big thanks to Cezar for being there.
