Biography

Cecilio & Kapono have been one of Hawaii’s most popular music duos since their formation in the early 1970s. They are well known for the three albums they recorded for Columbia Records between 1974 and 1977. Their popular hits include the songs “Friends,” “Sunflower,” “Sunshine Love,” “About You,” and “Sailing” which still get local Hawaii airplay more than 30 years after their release. Today Cecilio & Kapono are also successful solo artists in the Hawaii & World music markets. They frequently reunite for annual concerts in Hawaii and play to packed houses all over the world.

Since Cecilio Rodriguez didn't learn from a previous conviction for robbing the cradle, C&K won't be appearing on stage any time soon. (Check out the relevant "In The Car" interview with Andy Bumatai for particulars.)

For fans of C&K live, the "30 Years of Friends" CDs will put you in a crowd of fans at Kapono's in 2003 and 2005.

C&K on Sunshine: The record company folks suggested 1)Acid Rock, or 2)Country versions. The warm and tender ballad form won out. (Heard at a Diamond Head Crater celebration, 1976)
