The Italian mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli (born 4 June 1966) is a popular opera singer and recitalist.Bartoli was born in Rome. Her parents were both professional singers and gave her her first music lessons. Her first public performance was at age nine as a shepherd boy in Tosca. Bartoli later studied, appropriately enough, at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia.

Sacrificium is again a great, great album. I can keep on listening this album. It's absolutely worth buying the CD, it comes with awesome bonus stuff. Without any doubt Cecilia Bartoli is my favorite opera/classical singer. Much better than Anne Sofie von Otter. She's sharp, incredibly fast, very close to perfect (can't imagine anything better, but technically it should be possible ;). Especially the 'sharpness' of her voice I appreciate. Maybe because I appreciate it so much of Cecilia, it disturbs me so much when I listen to other singers - those soft edges on the words. Glad she's young and still lives, hope to receive many, many more albums from her. Would be great to see another Vivaldi album or anything close to the "Se tu m'ami" album. That's still my favorite ;)
