I think Motherwhale certainly wins the "Most Intelligent" album of 2011 so far... Needs more listens before I can decide if it's better than Brontide, Dana and Boris' latest output. Bloody good stuff anyways.
@Furiens: First thing, Happiness and Happiness for Lola are 2 different tracks, and second, have you never listened to Splutterheart or Anchoress? Sure, they take more chances, both vocally and musically, than the prepackaged indie rock that it appears you listen to such as Animal Collective, Broken Social Scene, or Of Montreal, but thats no reason to knock them on their own page. :(
i think the new album is freaking amazing. but i don't feel like i'm listening to Cats and Cats, i feel like this album would be even greater if it was under a different name or something. it doesn't feel like cats at all. i still think the album is fantastic though. but that's just my opinion
'If I'd Had An Atlas' is okay, but there's too much vocals going on. I appreciate what they're doing, but I think for future they should cut it down to one or two songs with vocals and the rest like 'Sweet Drunk Everyone' (EP, not song). Awesome, still.
