Cato is an artist name used by several artists:
1) “Cato” - R&B/Soul singer-songwriter
2) “Cato” - Film & TV composer, recording artist and remixer
3) Calen “Cato” Schaefer - rapper
4) Cato Tjåland, a Norwegian artist

Cato is an NJ-born, Brooklyn-based soul music singer/songwriter. He was raised on a mixture of Motown greats, 70s funk, 80s power ballads, and 90s Gospel, Hip-hop, and R&B, making Cato’s sound a unique and evolving blend of eras.

Cato made his music debut in the Soulful House scene, with the song “Honey Drip,” a collaboration with Italian house producer Raffa Scoccia (April 2013) -

Since releasing “Honey Drip,” Cato has begun introducing fans to his soul and R&B tracks - the first being “Do It Again,” followed by a more personal track, “Watch Me,” in September 2014.

LA-based film & television composer, recording artist and remixer Cato got started by tweaking modular synthesizers and tape based effects, inspired by artists such as Klaus Schulze, DAF and Throbbing Gristle.

Cato has written music for feature films like “Stone” (starring Robert De Niro, Edward Norton and Milla Jovovich) and “Smokin’ Aces” (starring Jeremy Piven, Andy Garcia and Alicia Keys among others).

In late 2011 Cato (artist #1 on this page) was asked to write an ambient leaning opening track for the main theatrical trailer for their film "The Iron Lady", starring Meryl Streep (who recently won the Golden Globe™ for Best Actress, and is nominated for a Best Actress Oscar™). The trailer has subsequently been viewed over 500,000 times on YouTube and many have asked about Cato's opening track. On February 28th Cato's label Kiite Records will release "They Told Me It Could Not Be Done" as a digital only release available through most leading digital music stores.
