Biography

Catherine Todd lives between North Carolina, New York City and Panajachel, Lake Atitlan, Guatemala and loves all three.

6.3.10: The best description of playing music I have ever heard, from Spanish Word for the Day:

Es un verdadero privilegio interpretar una música que va directo al corazón.
It’s a real privilege to interpret music which goes straight to the heart.

Amen.

5.19.10 Back to JK’s - can’t believe it’s already May and it’s been more than four or five months. Fingers feel so stiff and rusty but they still play! That’s the miracle of it all… just took a little longer to get “there” so to speak, but glad I somehow always find it. Missed last trip - no money, but hope that doesn’t happen again.

Hear 04 Long Time Gone 05.17.10, after my “warmup.” Love it so much, that peaceful and quiet place.

When I go back in on Monday, I’ll try to play along with this beautiful piece as I can see the birds swooping out of the sky, down to the crystal blue waters with green ferns growing alongside ~ I’m falling down and climbing high into the sky, river tumbling down the waterfalls I know so well…

1.11.10 The best hour I spent in NYC, before I return to Panajachel, Lake Atitlan Guatemala for two months. What would I do without John Kilgore Sound & Recording? www.johnkilgore.com

12.3.09 Two and a half days in NYC, quickest trip yet. Very productive in all ways. Almost an hour at John Kilgore’s, “Coming Home.” Finally, at long last. Please God make it last. No sadness this time, only happiness come.

Just uploaded a new album, "Been Gone So Long." It's been two years since I touched a piano, but it's still there! I just can't believe it. This music is a miracle for sure. Be aware that everything is a free full-length download, even though there are buttons to "buy on Amazon" etc. Enjoy & Share! Music from the Silver Stream and the Heavens Above.

Received this message via last.fm, from Rose Beaudry. Wow! Made my whole week! "Hi, Catherine, I just found you this week by listening to (and downloading) one of your free MP3 downloads that appeared on the bottom of my Last.fm home page. Your music is gorgeous... what a blessing! I've been listening to a lot of it at work on Last.fm. Thank you so much for making your music available for free download on Last.FM... I'm planning on posting links to it on Facebook and on Twitter along with rave reviews! (As soon as I have time... prepping for crazy-busy weekend right now...) ;-) God bless you and your music! Melodically, Rose Beaudry (Jubilee8 on Last.fm) (PS Twitter name is @Jubilee888)

Teresa wrote (in 2006?): The song is so beautiful. am listening to it now. You're really talented, Katie...such lovely "color" and feeling. Very evocative...would be great music for a fine film. I saw the newest version of Pride and Prejudice last night...your music reminds me of the beautiful rainy English countryside, so lush and a little melancholy. Really lovely Katie. thanks. T

I live between North Carolina and Panajachel, Lake Atitlan, Guatemala and love every minute of it (almost). Here are three small pieces of music recorded last year in 2007 at the former Windham Hill studios in VT. Thanks, Corin!
