Biography

Catherine Pockson is a singer songwriter and composes her songs on piano. Her early associations are with musicians from Kings College School Wimbledon, where she sang in a band with Matt Owens (now in Noah and The Whale) and also performed as Mary Magdalene in the production Jesus Christ Superstar with Marcus Mumford and Ben Lovett from Mumford and Sons.

At Bristol University she once again formed a band with Matt Owens gigging all over the country. Once Matt left Bristol to join Noah and the Whale she then formed her current band: Cat, Max and the Monroes. She also appeared on Bristol Community Radio Station (93.2FM) performing her songs and being interviewed as a result of winning a Jack Daniels singer songwriter competition in January 2008. http://wordofmouthradio.podomatic.com/

Since returning to London she has concentrated on performing as a solo artist playing at venues all over London including: The Troubadour, Proud Galleries, The Half Moon and The Rose Theatre. Her website shows full listings of the shows she has played in the past year: www.catherinepockson.com. Recently, she has also collaborated with producer DJ King Cannibal and Angus Blair (formerly of Island Records) to create a new pop project.

Her songs on piano are inspired by many different things: friends, family, freak weather conditions, clichés, moments you don't want to forget, moments you wish you could forget, the fantastical and the very real.
