7 Mar 2008, 08:51 by glassbottleI've been a fan of Cat Stevens for most of my life. I've listened to all of his records many many times. I came up with 35 favorite songs and then narrowed it down to these 20;
01. A Bad Penny
02. If I Laugh
03. Father And Son
04. King Of Trees
05. How Many Times
06. Sad Lisa
09. Just Another Night
10. Maybe You're Right
11. Morning Has Broken
12. 18th Avenue (Kansas City Nightmare)
13. Home In The Sky
14. Can't Keep It In
17. Miles From Nowhere
20. The First Cut Is The Deepest
(About 5 or 6 songs from 'Matthew and Son' were cut from the 35. As well as the one song I love from 'New Masters'.Also, not a big fan of 'Izitso' or 'Numbers')
9 Feb 2007, 20:43 by alibumbaliI was sad to see that last.fm did not have many Songs i was looking for, so i used YouTube mostly.
The time I can´t remember but left strong emotional impressions
I loved music, so says my Dad. I basicly listened to his music. Acually he build my musical sense and taste, so I have to say something about him.
__My Dad was one of the few people who had a Tape Machine. The one with Tapes 20cm big. In fact that says it all. Yeah, he is a BIG music lover. He has thousands of Albums and spent every money on it even if he didn´t have it. He is an Idealist and 68er so his music is reggae like Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff and Third World and blues like Eric Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix and Cream. In fact put Hendrix first and then much further down the rest. When he talks about Hendrix his eyes start glowing and you have the feeling that he is somewhere on another planet. I think you got the point ...
__So now you know where I started. I didn´t like the Blues (nothing for kids *hehe*) but loved to whiggle and hop to Reggae…
11 Jan 2007, 14:52 by codisloveBy now, by looking at my journals and so on, you should be able to tell that I am TOTALLY HOOKED ON THESE MOTHERFUCKERS.
Sooooo therefore, I have decided to make things a little more interesting. I was looking at my iTunes the other day and could not help but think..."hey, I have a shitload of Cat Stevens!"...therefore, I am doing what was once seen as unthinkable! (I think)
I will do an entire survey...using only...CAT STEVENS SONGS!! WOO! (on shuffle, of course. more fun that way!)
Soooo here we go! From an old journal entry, I have taken a survey, to redo as it has never been redone before!
SO HERE GOES
1. What song best represents my personality?
If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out
Holy shit, AWESOME. It totally suits me, I agree. I live life the way I want to, and I want to be true to myself. C'est vrai! I love it
2. What song will be played on my funeral?
I Love My Dog
This song is so great, and I love it...but I don't know. Doesn't really work, does it?

13 Nov 2006, 14:54 by codisloveGrowing up, I got to listen to a lot of music. In the car, at home (my Dad loved to blast his music really, really loud), at other people's houses, on TV, etc. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are of me singing songs. It's weird, how I remember such random things.
Once, for example, my teacher in I think grade 2 asked us to sing songs in front of the class. When it was my turn, I got up and sang The Hammer Song. Wow, it musta shocked everybody, especially my teacher! My friends were all singing Madonna or Backstreet Boys or something dumb like Mary Had a Little Lamb, and here I was, singing a 60s song which preached peace and brotherhood.
;) Go me.
One artist I grew up listening to a LOT besides Peter, Paul and Mary was Cat Stevens. Or, Yusuf Islam, as he is known now. I respect him either way. I sang along to Moonshadow everytime it played in the car, actually, we'd all sing it together. Nice family time for a family that rarely did ANYTHING together most of the time! But, I digress. …
