Today I found out that my father is coming home. They are going to bring in a hospital bed and oxygen. My mom says that he is very depressed and this may make him give up hope. All I can really do is agree. I have seen him in his current state and there isn't much left to hold onto. It's in his brain and his spine now.
If there is one song that will always remind me of my father, in full health, it is Sun Kil Moon's "Glen Tipton."
There is some controversy about the opening lyric, whether it is "Cassius Clay was hit more than Sonny Liston" or "Cassius Clay was hated more than Sonny Liston." The consensus says it's hated, but it will always be hit to me.
I didn't realize how much of Kozelek's words are heard in different ways, there are whole message board threads devoted to what people hear in his murky delivery.
