USA Today music critic Brian Mansfield suggested that James was “arguably…the best guitar player the show has seen.” James lifelong goal was to be a “famous blues musician,” a dream that was almost shattered after a serious motorcycle accident at the age of 21. He was told by doctors that he would no longer be able to play guitar, a medical prediction that proved untrue. James has stated that his primary influence is blues guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, harkening back to his Texas roots. Other influences include Merle Haggard, Jonny Lang, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam.

The Casey James music I like is in the blues/rock style from the Keys Lounge performances from May of 2010. No idea what he will have on this album, but I will buy it as long as it's not country.
