Carved in Gold is a progressive rock/metal band from Overijssel (the Netherlands) consisting of Hanne-Merel Lakerveld (lead vocals), Maarten Langeree (guitar, backing vocals), Ben Bruschke (bass guitar) and Mark Mulder (drums). All material performed by the band is self written or co-written.

Carved in Gold is founded in late 2008 by Maarten Langeree. The initial goal: preserve and build on the repertoire of his previous band Glass Moon. Former companion Glass Moon members Hanne-Merel Lakerveld and Ben Bruschke join the band at its conception. Mark Mulder drums his way into the band after a few months bringing the name “Carved in Gold” along with him and Carved in Gold in its current form is born in March of 2009. The Carved in Gold setlist still features quite a few Glass Moon songs but it is continually changing and expanding and the band is already looking far beyond its initial goal.

Stylewise, the music of Carved in Gold is rooted firmly in progressive rock/metal. These roots manifest themselves most clearly in the urge of the band to keep their music fresh by varying themes, volume and style. The ideal Carved in Gold song is highly dynamic and features a playful mix of brutal metal riffs, fragile melodic passages, dreamy soundscapes, catchy grooves and rhythmic trickery all continually interchanging each other.
