Sweet Child of Mine is written for any parent who loves their children with a passion.Even though written in the 70s it still calls for concern over the times the chils was born into.It calls for a parent to trust and believe in their child.Knowing if they can’t always be 100% truthful you know your child will still be kind.

Although you see the world different than me
Sometimes I can touch upon the wonders that you see
And all the new colors and pictures you've designed
Oh, yes sweet darling, so glad you are a child of mine

Can't say enough about this song. My son agreed to use this as our Mother-Son dance at is Bar Mitzvah. Now he's nearing the end of College and I still cry when I hear the song. Because they never stop being our children.

This song kills me every time. Though meaningful for any parent, I think it holds special resonance for parents of children on the autism spectrum. I think of my son who "sees the world different from me," and how he'll be "honest if he can't always be kind." Our children teach us so much, and we worry so about the world we've brought them into. That doesn't change, does it?

I used to sing this to my oldest child when he was a toddler.19 yrs ago, I had it played at his funeral. There wasn't a dry eye there. Even as I write this I am still moved to tears
